GOING AROUND

The mode of Transportation within the city includes jeepneys, and buses plying to and from other municipalities in Ilocos Norte, as welll as colorful tricycles traversing the urban area.

Of course, walking around Laoag City proper is still the best option, specially that majority of the Tourist Spots are near to each other. One can also opt to ride a Calesa, one of the many horse drawn carriages that ply the streets. Many visitors agree that touring and sightseeing around the city is made more fun by riding a Calesa, while listening to the lively stories of the carriage driver or "Kutsero", and the clip-clop of the horse's shoes on the pavement.

Calesa

Still the "king of the road", the calesa has withstand the test of time. It has been an important means of transportation then and now and has contributed in the preservation of Laoag City's heritage.

Today, the calesa is preffered specially if you are in a group of 4 or 5 because tricycles are only allowed to transport a maximum of 3 passengers at a time. You can also hire a calesa to go sight-seeing around the city.

Tricycle

The tricycle is the most preffered mode of transportation in Laoag City because of its versatility. Whenever you are in the city proper or going to nearby places outside Laoag, there is always a tricycle around. In fact, terminals or "Pilaan" are found in almost all corners of the Laoag Centro.

Jeepney

The central terminal is located in Barangay 1, but there is one located at the back of the Provincial Capitol for some jeepneys plying the Batac, Paoay, Sarrat, San Nicolas and other routes.
