The United States 13th Air Force Office of the Command Surgeon (AF/SGX) conducted the Final Planning Conference with the members of the Laoag City Disaster Coordinating Council, on July 20-22 at the Fort Ilocandia Resort and Casino.
The Disaster Response Exchange and Exercise is the sequel of the Disaster Response Needs Assessment Conference held early this year by the AF/SGX. This conference involves preparedness, planning, response and recovery during catastrophic events, including information exchange between the US and representatives from core Philippine agencies. Improved RP and US military capabilities to support Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Response during such events is one objective of the conference.
A third and final phase of the conference called "active DREE event" will take place at the end of the next month, August 2010.
