Additional 16 CCTV Cameras Installed at the LCCC

Acting on the request of the Market Superintendent, Mr. Joshua Paulino,  Mayor Michael V. Fariñas instructed the Information Technology Division to facilitate for the installation of another set of 16 CCTV Cameras at the said building.

In 2009, the first set of 16 cameras were installed and almost immediately it was able to record illegal activities such as robberies which led to the apprehension of the perpetuators. These initial cameras covered all entry and exit points of the market.

Market_CCTVWith the new acquisition, all areas of the market are now covered, specifically hallways on the second and third floors.  Shoppers as well as business owners feel more secure as more sophisticated cameras with clearer images were the ones installed. Mr. Paulino personally thanked the Mayor for granting his request.  With a total of 32 CCTV Cameras in all, the LCCC is the only public building with the most number of cameras installed.

The city of Laoag, with the leadership of Mayor Fariñas continues to prove itself as one of the safest and most liveable cities in the Philippines.  Projects such as this and other public safety programs in close coordination with the Philippine National Police, is the reason why the Northern Gateway of the Philippines has the best Peace and Order Program in the region.
