Laoag City Mayor Michael V. Fariñas was appalled and moved by the Awards that the City Government garnered in the recently concluded School’s Regional Press Conference held in Binalonan, Pangasinan on December 7 – 10, 2009.

Mr. Jazzy Pascua, DepEd Laoag Campus Journalism Coordinator, presented the Awards to the Mayor, emphasizing that it is Laoag’s 4th consecutive as Overall Champion.

In the same ceremony, Hon. Fariñas also presented the National Award for Laoag City as a finalist in the Gawad sa Kampeon ng Kabataang Pilipino, given by the National Youth Commission, acknowledging Laoag City’s exemplary programs for the development of the youth. The Mayor personally received the Award at Malacañang Palace on December 10, 2009.

It was indeed a very moving ceremony that every employee of the city government witnessed, as 32 MVF scholars of the Datamex Institute of Computer Technology gave their symbolic Christmas gift to the Chief Executive, and, as a finale presentation, Ms. Aina Frez of the Ilocos Norte National High School displayed her talent that made her Champion in the Talent Show of the SRPC.
